April Reading List 2018

The Drink

This is a podcast hosted by Mark Baxter and Hutton. Both of these gentlemen are fathers and hail from the US of A.

Before listening to this podcast I wasn’t sure what to expect. I didn’t think I would enjoy it if I’m being honest.

This was because I heard it wasn’t like the “usual” stuff around at the moment. It turns out this was the reason I ended up liking it.

Listening to Mark and Hutton is like sharing a conversation with two good friends – relaxed with a finishing of insight. The Drink is a nice unplug from my usual diet of ultra self-improvement content.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and I will continue to eat it. The Drink however is a breath of fresh air.

31 Days to Masculinity

Last month I took part in the 31DTM challenge.

Long story short – I failed. The reasons behind my failure were discussed on the email list. If you’re not on it – tough luck.

Subscribe here to ensure you don’t miss out on any more lessons.

31DTM is an month long event. It is a series of challenges to test your metal.

Each day is different and requires you to conjure up parts of yourself previously unseen. The next challenge is taking place in March 2019.

However the ebook  (author – Hunter Drew) can be purchased and carried out independently.  This is actually what I will be doing in the coming months.

As a form of redemption and to prove to myself I can do it.

No More Mr Nice Guy

As part of 31DTM, we were tasked with reading the book of the month over on The Fraternity of Excellence. This was (as you can probably guess) No More Mr Nice Guy by Dr Robert Glover, a psychologist.

The book talks of Dr Glover’s interactions and musings with his patients. These are self confessed “chronic nice guys”.

To Glover, nice guys are eternal pushovers and relentless people-pleasers. This is at the detriment to their own happiness and well-being.

By constantly seeking external validation from others, they end up miserable when things don’t turn out as planned.

Most people will see a small part of themselves in the characters described in NMMNG. I know I certainly did.

Turning away from the nice guy mentality is not about being an asshole. It is simply about standing up for oneself.

Jamie McSloy’s Email List

Jamie McSloy is somewhat of a Jack of all trades. He specialises in copywriting, marketing and niche sites – you name it.

After recently signing up to his email list I have been pleased also. He is currently involved in a 30 day email challenge.

Just this week he has sent out full tutorials on how to set up a dropshipping store and a niche site right to your inbox. That’s not half bad if you ask me.

Final Thoughts

That’s all for this month folks.

There isn’t as much content here as usual but the quality is high – that’s the main thing.

Remember to put the great ideas you may hear/read to good use.

Application to your own life is where the true benefit comes from.

Best of luck.

Thanks for reading,

Stay tuned.
